Wickware / Wickwire Family History Newsletters
An Introduction
Greetings to all of you who are interested in the family history and genealogy of the Wickware and Wickwire surnames. On the 12th of September 1999 our first newsletter was issued. At that time only a small group of families had communicated with each other attempting to identify relationships and common ancestors. Since that first issue we have grown to over 350 families and the number grows each week.
The purpose of our family history group is to update the fine genealogy book done by Arthur Manley Wickwire entitled “Genealogy of the Wickware Family”, published in 1909 in New York. To that end the newsletters are issued each week to stimulate research and ideas for the new genealogy of our family. The weekly issues are devoted to stories about our ancestors, how they lived and worked, and records of their travels in North America. We also feature contemporary cousins and their achievements and good deeds. There are many mysteries and queries highlighted in the newsletters and through the diligent research on these “missing cousins” our group is slowly and surely filling in all the family lines from 1909 to the present time. Many of the issues feature family memorabilia and miscellaneous tidbits about the family in general and individuals in particular.
The newsletters regularly commemorate the artists, writers, humanitarians, etc., in the family. Our family is blessed with many, many wonderful people and there is never a shortage of good things to report. Many of our ancestors played significant parts in the development of our country and its industry, and we feature stories on them frequently.
Above all, our family history newsletter is a simple means for the entire group to stay in touch with each other and work towards the main goal of a “world class update” to the Arthur Manley Wickwire genealogy, also known as the AMW book.
Always remember, the newsletters belong to everyone and all are welcome to take part in every way. We hope you enjoy them one and all.
The Wickware - Wickwire Family Website is sponsored by the Charles F. Wickwire Family. Correspondence is welcome so please send us an email. We are always looking for more information about the family so feel free to send pictures, stories or questions.
